Anti-Illegal Brick Kiln Drive in Boko-Chaygaon Faces Resistance

A drive by the Boko-Chaygaon co-district administration against illegal brick kilns in Bamunbari and Gelabari villages turned chaotic on Saturday after kiln operators and villagers allegedly resisted the operation.

The team, led by Chamaria Revenue Circle Officer Nandan Nilotpal Bhagawati, attempted to demolish unauthorized kilns with an excavator but faced strong opposition. Officials said some people tried to obstruct the drive and even attempted to attack the excavator driver, forcing the team to withdraw after partially demolishing one brick stack.

Authorities said legal action will be taken and further operations will continue against the illegal kilns, which locals claim are causing pollution, damaging farmland, and operating without proper documents or taxes.
