APCB Orders Relocation of Waste Facilities Threatening Kaziranga

The Assam Pollution Control Board has directed the Bokakhat Municipal Board to shift its waste dumping site and faecal sludge treatment plant away from Kaziranga National Park, citing serious environmental risks. The board asked for an action-taken report within seven days. The directive came only after the Supreme Court-constituted Central Empowered Committee sought a response from the Assam government following a complaint by environmental activist Rohit Choudhury. The facilities, located at Latabari near the Difloo river, are already almost ready for operation despite earlier warnings.
