APCC Leader Ratul Kalita Resigns from Congress, Criticises Party Leadership

Senior Assam Pradesh Congress Committee leader Ratul Kalita resigned from the Congress on Saturday, alleging that grassroots workers are ignored while political elites are given preference.
Speaking at a press conference in Nalbari, Kalita criticised state Congress president Gaurav Gogoi for allegedly sidelining long-time party workers and failing to recognise their contributions. He also expressed dissatisfaction over the party’s candidate selection process.
Following his resignation, more than 20 Congress workers reportedly quit the party in support of Kalita. He said a decision on his future political move would be taken after discussions with supporters.
