ARPA Announces Statewide Railway Memorandum Programme

Guwahati: The Assam Rail Passengers Association (ARPA) will submit memorandums across Assam on October 11, seeking improvements in railway infrastructure, connectivity and passenger services. Its demands include a separate Northeast railway zone, a new railway division at Badarpur and restoration of pre-COVID facilities such as senior citizen fare concessions, discontinued trains and cancelled stoppages.

ARPA has also sought EMU/MEMU services on electrified routes, faster implementation of proposed railway lines and construction of a new Saraighat bridge for better connectivity. It has demanded daily services for several trains, improved station amenities, suburban rail services in Guwahati, Dibrugarh and Silchar, and new passenger terminals at selected locations. The association also wants pending NFR proposals to be expedited by the Railway Board.
