ARPA Urges MP to Advocate for Better Rail Services in Assam
The Assam Rail Passengers’ Association (ARPA) met with Jorhat MP Gaurav Gogoi, requesting an increase in local passenger trains and the resumption of pre-Covid services. ARPA highlighted issues like the cancellation of essential trains, reduced sleeper coaches, and withdrawal of senior citizen concessions. They proposed suburban services with Guwahati and Dibrugarh as hubs, and the extension and restoration of specific train routes and stoppages. Additionally, they suggested long-term projects to improve connectivity and reduce travel time in the North East.
