Assam Aims to Become Global Tea Tourism Hub with New Scheme

Assam is focused on transforming into a global tea tourism hub by enhancing tea garden-based tourism. The state government launched the Tea Tourism Scheme, offering 50% subsidies (up to ₹2 crore) to tea gardens for developing tourism infrastructure. Tourism Minister Jayanta Mallabaruah emphasized Assam’s untapped potential in tea tourism, highlighting heritage sites like the oldest golf course in Asia. The scheme aims to protect Assam’s tea heritage, boost local entrepreneurship, create rural jobs, and promote eco-friendly tourism.
