Assam Announces Academic Incentives and Infrastructure Plans
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on Wednesday that starting next academic year, the state government will distribute scooters to both boys and girls scoring over 75% in higher secondary exams. Additionally, students achieving this benchmark will receive a one-time financial grant of Rs. 10,000 under the Anundoram Borooah Scheme from this academic year.
The state cabinet also unveiled a 10-year plan to address flooding, approving guidelines for the installation of Real-Time Data Acquisition Systems (RTDAS) to facilitate hydrological data collection for effective water resource planning and flood forecasting. Nearly 800 RTDAS units will be installed statewide.
Key cabinet decisions include:
Improving Connectivity in Tea Gardens: Construction of Line Roads in 800 tea gardens, each costing Rs. 1 crore, totaling Rs. 800 crore.
Infrastructure Upgradation of Schools: Upgrading 126 state-run schools, with Rs. 8 crore allocated to each school, to enhance educational infrastructure quality.
