Assam Announces Financial Relief for Flood-Hit Districts

The Assam government has announced a financial relief package for flood-affected people in Sivasagar, Charaideo, Jorhat and Golaghat. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the package includes a ₹1.5 lakh grant for each flood-damaged Namghar in Sivasagar and Charaideo, a six-month extension on eligible bank loan repayments (up to seven years), and an additional ₹10,000 collateral-free loan for affected retail shop owners. The measures were approved after a meeting of the State Level Bankers’ Committee (SLBC) to support families, farmers and small businesses recovering from the recent floods.
