Assam Bans Pig Transport Amid Rising African Swine Fever Cases

Assam has banned inter-district movement of live pigs and prohibited pork sale in seven districts after a surge in African Swine Fever cases. Over 297 infection hotspots have been detected, with 84 new ones in October. The government issued the order under the Infectious Diseases in Animals Act to curb the spread.
