Assam Cabinet Announces Record Orunodoi DBT, Decentralisation of Powers

The Assam Cabinet on Thursday announced the state’s highest-ever single-day DBT under the Orunodoi scheme, with 39.70 lakh beneficiaries set to receive Rs 9,000 each on March 10, amounting to nearly Rs 3,600 crore. The Cabinet also approved decentralisation of preliminary tender powers for projects below Rs 10 crore to BTC, Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao councils. Tea garden workers’ daily wages will rise by Rs 30 from April 1, 2026. Key decisions also included incentives for industrial and hospitality projects, a new agriculture college in Patharkandi, infrastructure funding, VAT reduction on ATF, scooties for ASHA workers, and release of MMUA funds.
