Assam Cabinet Approves Education Reforms, GST Relief for Small Traders, and BTR Expansion
The Assam Cabinet approved several key decisions, including reserving 25% of seats in private schools for poor students, with the state covering their fees. Small traders will receive GST tax exemptions for notices under Rs 5 lakh, affecting around 90,000 traders. The Cabinet also agreed to include 16 more villages in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) and approved the creation of 1,766 math teacher posts. Additionally, third and fourth-grade staff positions in polytechnic and engineering colleges will no longer be outsourced.
