Assam Cabinet Approves New State Data Policy 2026

Ahead of the Assam Assembly session, the state Cabinet approved the Assam State Data Policy (ASDP) 2026 to strengthen governance and improve public service delivery. The policy will establish the Centre for Data Management (CDM) as the nodal agency for creating a unified state-wide data repository for analytics and AI.
Minister Atul Bora said the policy aims to develop a state data catalogue within three years, allowing better access to datasets for departments and citizens. The move is part of Assam’s broader push towards AI-driven governance, with over 343 AI project ideas identified across more than 50 government departments.
