Assam Cabinet Clears Major Investment, Welfare and Development Proposals

Guwahati: The Assam Cabinet has approved a series of decisions covering industrial investment, infrastructure, welfare and agriculture. These include an ₹11,000-crore investment proposal by JK Lakshmi Cement for a cement plant at Umrangso and a proposed ₹796-crore ADB loan for restoring 102 community wetlands and developing fisheries.

The Cabinet also approved a spice testing laboratory in Guwahati, a 20% bonus for eligible ATCL tea garden workers, and an increased October Orunodoi payment of ₹1,500. Other decisions included new rules for compulsory registration of Muslim marriages, support for farmers under the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund, allocation of land for industrial estates and an agricultural college, and November elections to the Mising and Sonowal Kachari Autonomous Councils.
