Assam Celebrates Peaceful Eid-ul-Adha with Unity and Devotion

Assam celebrated Eid-ul-Adha with devotion, harmony, and a strong message of unity as thousands gathered at Eidgah grounds and mosques across the state on Thursday. From Guwahati and Nalbari to rain-soaked Jorhat, devotees offered special prayers for peace, prosperity, and communal brotherhood.

Major mosques in Guwahati witnessed large gatherings, while in Nalbari and Jorhat, community leaders highlighted the importance of togetherness and harmony among people of all religions. Despite unfavourable weather in Jorhat, people of all ages participated in the celebrations with enthusiasm.

This year’s Eid also stood out for the widespread support to the Assam government’s appeal for a cow-slaughter-free celebration, in accordance with the Assam Cattle Preservation Act. Several Eid committees reportedly refrained from cow sacrifice, reflecting a collective commitment to maintaining peace and mutual respect in the state.
