Assam CM Announces ₹4 Lakh Aid for Flood Victims’ Families

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday announced an ex gratia of ₹4 lakh for the families of each person who died in the Assam floods. He said around 70 people are still missing in Sivasagar, making it too early to estimate the final death toll. Assuring full government support, Sarma said rescue, relief and rehabilitation efforts are continuing in the worst-hit districts, while floodwaters have started receding in parts of Sivasagar.
