Assam CM Inaugurates Piped Natural Gas Supply in Guwahati

Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated piped natural gas supply in Guwahati’s Geetanagar, executed by PBGL with a ₹3,000 crore investment. On launch day, 101 families received gas supply. The project aims to cover Kamrup (Metro) by Sept 2028, with 30,000 families already registered. Piped gas will expand to Baihata Chariali, Hajo, Sualkuchi, and Rangia. A new CNG station was opened in Barak Valley, with more planned in Sribhumi and Hailakandi. Assam now has 23 CNG stations, and expansion is planned to improve air quality. CM also confirmed completion targets for Sualkuchi-Palasbari and Guwahati-North Guwahati bridges by 2027 and December respectively.
