Assam CM Sarma Vows to Implement NRC, Deport Illegal Immigrants

Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that the National Register of Citizens (NRC) will be implemented to identify and deport illegal immigrants to Bangladesh. He emphasized that individuals can present their cases during the NRC process, but failure to prove Indian citizenship will lead to deportation. In Assam, 14 lakh individuals have been preliminarily identified as non-citizens, and the state seeks the Supreme Court’s approval for a second revision. Stricter Aadhaar card regulations will also be enforced from October 1.
