Assam CM Vows Action After Umrangso Mine Tragedy

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed sorrow over the Umrangso mine incident, where five miners remain trapped in a flooded rat-hole mine. Rescue teams have recovered four bodies so far, with operations ongoing using underwater ROVs and high-capacity pumps.

The Chief Minister assured support for victims’ families and promised strict action against those involved in illegal mining. The water level in the mine has been reduced significantly, but rescue efforts continue as hopes for the remaining miners grow slim.
