Assam Congress Demands India-China Water Treaty Over Brahmaputra

Assam Congress urged the Centre to sign a water-sharing treaty with China to address ecological risks posed by China’s massive Brahmaputra hydropower project. Congressman Pradyut Bordoloi warned of severe downstream effects, including potential floods and water scarcity, threatening Assam’s culture and economy. Highlighting the urgency, Bordoloi criticized the Centre’s response as inadequate and called for immediate diplomatic engagement under international watercourse laws.
