Assam Congress MLA Resigns Over Denial of Ticket to Wife, Adds to Party’s Woes

In a significant blow to the Assam Congress, MLA Bharat Chandra Narah has resigned from the party’s primary membership, following his resignation from the position of chairman of the party’s media cell. Narah cited the denial of a party ticket to his wife, Ranee Narah, for the Lakhimpur parliamentary constituency as the reason behind his decision. Despite his disappointment, Narah expressed his commitment to the party. This development exacerbates the Congress’s challenges amid defections to the BJP, further complicating their prospects in upcoming elections. Ranee Narah, a former MP and Union minister, had previously won the Lakhimpur seat and enjoyed considerable support within the party.
