Assam Couple Allegedly Joins ULFA (I), Leaving Daughter Behind

A married couple from Kakopathar in Assam’s Tinsukia district, Achyut Neog and Mamata Neog, reportedly abandoned their ancestral home and 4-year-old daughter to join the banned rebel group ULFA (I), led by Paresh Baruah. Entrusting their child to her grandparents, the couple’s decision has shocked their community, particularly Achyut’s father, Sanmon Neog, a former ULFA member himself. Sanmon, now living a regular life, appealed to Paresh Baruah to return his son and daughter-in-law, citing their parental responsibilities.
