Assam Cracks Down on Investment Scams Across 14 Districts

Assam Police has launched a large-scale crackdown on unregulated trading and investment scams, arresting 59 individuals and registering 28 cases across 14 districts. The action follows the formation of 14 Special Investigation Teams (SITs) to probe these cases, which report to the Assam CID headquarters. Additionally, 22 Look Out Circulars (LOCs) have been issued for those evading police summons. The crackdown involves the Income Tax Department and Enforcement Directorate, with the possibility of transferring complex cases to the CBI. Several high-profile individuals, including Dibrugarh-based doctors, are implicated.
