Assam Eyes ADB Loan for Ratan Tata Electronics Hub in Jagiroad

CM Himanta Biswa Sarma announced ongoing talks with ADB for funding the Ratan Tata Electronic Manufacturing City in Jagiroad. Infrastructure work is already underway. ADB has granted ₹1,000 crore for Assam Skill University, which will open soon to support the electronics sector. The Northeast Skilling Institute in Guwahati, backed by Singapore, is also operational. Industries will benefit from state and central policies, including the Unnati scheme. The Jagiroad Semiconductor Plant is progressing, with chip production expected by late 2025 or early 2026. Sarma also highlighted growing interest from Assamese professionals to return home.
