Assam Film Fraternity Files Complaint After Artiste Diganta Bharati Assaulted at Bihu Event

The Film Fraternity of Assam lodged a police complaint against Simanta Thakuria of Pub Guwahati Bihu Sanmilan, accusing him of assaulting artiste Diganta Bharati during a Bihu event on April 16. Bharati was allegedly pushed off stage and threatened for not wearing traditional attire. The fraternity condemned the incident as disrespectful to Assam’s cultural values and staged a protest demanding a public apology and inquiry. Police have not issued a statement yet.
