Assam Flood Situation Improves, Death Toll Rises to 62

Assam: The flood situation across Assam improved on Saturday as water levels receded in several districts, though the death toll climbed to 62 and eight people remain missing. Around 6.55 lakh people in 10 districts are still affected.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said all flood-hit villages have been reached and relief operations are progressing, with air-dropping of supplies continuing in inaccessible areas. However, Nazira and Sivasagar remain the worst-hit, with thousands displaced, widespread damage to infrastructure and farmland, ongoing relief camp operations, and medical teams conducting health camps to prevent disease outbreaks.
