Assam Floods Affect 2.6 Lakh People, Death Toll Rises to 26

Assam’s flood situation remains critical, affecting around 2.6 lakh people in six districts. Though water levels have started receding due to reduced rainfall, 741 villages remain submerged and over 6,300 hectares of crops are damaged. The death toll has reached 26, with three more fatalities in Kamrup. Sribhumi, Hailakandi, and Cachar are among the worst-hit areas. Over 24,900 people are in relief camps, and essential supplies are being distributed. Infrastructure and livestock have also suffered extensive damage.
