Assam Forest Department Arrests Poachers with Pangolin Scales in Goalpara

The Assam Forest Department arrested four poachers at Daranggiri in Goalpara district, seizing around one kilogram of rare pangolin scales. The scales, valued at approximately Rs 1.50 lakh, were being sold for Rs 20,000. The arrested individuals, all from Meghalaya, are under investigation. Pangolin scales are highly sought after in Asia for traditional medicine, despite their ineffectiveness, contributing to the species’ endangered status.
