Assam Government Empowers DCs to Transfer Co-District and Additional District Commissioners

Guwahati: The Assam government has authorised district commissioners (DCs) to transfer and post co-district commissioners (CDCs), additional district commissioners (ADCs) and assistant commissioners within their respective districts without prior approval from the Personnel Department.

The order aims to improve administrative efficiency and strengthen decentralised governance. However, transfers must remain within district boundaries and must not affect officers’ rank, pay or service conditions. The government has also directed DCs to respect the independent functioning of CDCs at their designated headquarters.
