Assam Government Notifies 127 Health Co-Districts and 25 Sub-Sections

Guwahati: The Assam government has notified 127 health co-districts and 25 health sub-sections to strengthen healthcare administration, improve reporting and enhance monitoring of national and state health programmes. The Health and Family Welfare Department has directed the immediate replacement of existing health block names with the newly designated health co-district names across official reporting portals.
Each health co-district will be headed by a Sub-Divisional Medical and Health Officer, supported by the National Health Mission. An additional health co-district has been created for the Bhawanipur-Sorbhog constituency, which spans Bajali and Barpeta districts. The reorganisation aims to improve coordination, accountability and healthcare service delivery across Assam.
