Assam Government to Erect Statue of Freedom Fighter Babu Chabilal Upadhyaya

The Assam Government has announced plans to honor Babu Chabilal Upadhyaya, a pioneering Gorkha leader and freedom fighter, by erecting a statue in Guwahati. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has directed the Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) to select a prominent site for the statue. He also instructed officials to consult Upadhyaya’s family during the planning process. Once the site and design are confirmed, the project will move forward, with updates provided on its progress.
