Assam Govt Advances Clause 6 Implementation with Key Reforms

The Assam government, in discussion with AASU, has taken significant steps to implement Clause 6 of the Assam Accord. A high-level meeting chaired by CM Himanta Biswa Sarma focused on land rights, language policies, and cultural protection. Key decisions include restricting land ownership to Assamese people in new revenue circles, making Assamese compulsory in schools, and introducing Assamese history as a subject. Official notifications will be in both English and Assamese from April 14. The government also announced a ₹100 crore fund for Sankardev Kalakshetra and plans to create 2,000 new government posts for land administration.
