Assam Govt Announces ₹1.5 Lakh Support for Students Learning Japanese

Guwahati: The Assam government has announced financial assistance of up to ₹1.5 lakh for eligible students undergoing Japanese language training under the CM-FLIGHT programme. Speaking at the Japanese language training centre in Garchuk, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the support will be provided in phases during training, with an additional ₹50,000 after students secure a visa for Japan.

The Chief Minister also said the government will facilitate faster education loans through banks and urged trainees to clear the required Japanese language examinations on their first attempt. He added that the initiative aims to create overseas employment opportunities and prepare Assamese youth for careers with Japanese companies in both Japan and India. Currently, the programme has 54 students, with new batches planned as part of its expansion.
