Assam Govt Begins Eviction Drive on Encroached Grazing Land in Nalbari

The Assam government launched an eviction drive on Monday to clear 82 bighas of encroached village grazing reserve (VGR) land in Nalbari district’s Bakrikuchi village. About 300 families had settled on the land, but most cooperated after a court order upheld the clearance. Around 500 security personnel were deployed, and 12 bulldozers were used to remove illegal structures. The remaining 370 bighas are reportedly used for farming and fisheries. This marks the second major eviction in June.
