Assam Govt Issues Guidelines for Community Service Punishment

The Assam government has notified guidelines for awarding community service under BNS and BNSS. Convicts may be assigned duties in hospitals, schools, libraries, government offices, parks, old-age homes, and other institutions. Tasks include cleaning, assisting patients, clerical work, traffic regulation, and tree planting. Service duration will range from one day to 31 days or 40–240 hours, monitored by district social welfare officers.
