Assam Govt Moves to Extend Service of Long-Serving Contractual Employees

The Assam government has started implementing a Cabinet decision allowing certain contractual employees to work until the age of 60. Departments have been asked to identify eligible staff following the decision taken on February 26, 2026.

To qualify, employees must have at least 10 years of continuous service and be 45 years or older as of January 1, 2026. Those meeting the criteria will receive the service extension, while others will continue under their existing terms.
