Assam Govt Plans Eviction Drive in Patharkandi, Barak Valley

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the state is preparing an eviction drive in Sribhumi’s Patharkandi and other parts of Barak Valley, likely using excavators and backhoe loaders. He reiterated that Bangladesh nationals continue to be caught in Assam but assured Bengali Hindus are “100% safe.” Earlier, Minister Krishnendu Paul had flagged rampant encroachment in reserve forest areas of Sribhumi, alleging demographic changes, and warned of strict action against violators.
