Assam Govt Spends ₹433 Crore to Upgrade Mandirs and Namghars

Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday said the Government of Assam has invested ₹433 crore to upgrade infrastructure in mandirs and 22,923 namghars across Assam.

In a post on X, Sarma said temples and namghars are not only places of worship but also important centres of community life and cultural traditions in the state.

He added that improving these religious spaces will help preserve Assam’s spiritual heritage while strengthening cultural values for future generations.
