Assam Govt to Transfer ₹2.90 Cr GST from Zubeen Garg Film to Kalaguru Foundation

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that the state government will transfer ₹2.90 crore, the state GST collected from Roi Roi Binale, to the Kalaguru Foundation, set up by late singer Zubeen Garg.

The Chief Minister also said a Special Public Prosecutor will be appointed by January 12 in the singer’s death case and that the government will request a fast-track trial from the Gauhati High Court.

Zubeen Garg died under mysterious circumstances in Singapore in September 2025. The trial of seven accused has already begun at the Kamrup (Metro) District and Sessions Court, with murder and other serious charges framed against the accused. The Chief Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring justice in the case.
