Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday announced the transfer of ₹9,000 each to 40 lakh families under the Orunodoi Scheme 3.0, calling it the largest single-day DBT rollout in the state. The government disbursed over ₹3,600 crore directly to beneficiaries’ bank accounts.
The amount includes ₹5,000 for four months of assistance and an additional ₹4,000 ahead of Bohag Bihu. Currently, beneficiaries receive ₹1,250 per month under the scheme aimed at supporting economically weaker women.
Sarma said the government plans to expand welfare support with free ration items if re-elected and also targeted opposition leaders during his address.
