Assam Launches 10-Day Health Screening for Children with Serious Conditions

A ten-day state-wide health screening program for children with complex heart and blood-related diseases began on Sunday across Assam’s government colleges and hospitals. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma urged parents to bring children aged 0-14 to the screening camps.

The initiative targets conditions like serious heart issues, leukemia, and thalassemia. Sarma assured that necessary surgeries would be arranged, either in Assam or abroad, with full financial support for treatments like bone marrow transplants. The program also covers congenital heart diseases for children up to 18 years old, aiming to improve access to critical medical services across the state.
