Assam Launches Automated SMS Alert System to Track Student Absenteeism

Cabinet Minister Ranoj Pegu on Monday launched the Automated SMS Absenteeism Alert System in Assam to monitor student attendance and curb dropouts. Integrated with the Shiksha Setu App and UDISE data, the system sends SMS alerts to teachers and parents if a student remains absent for five consecutive days, with follow-up messages every five days. Alerts will be issued in local languages to ensure clarity. The initiative aims to strengthen data-driven education governance and improve attendance and retention in government schools.
