Assam Launches Landslide Early Warning System in High-Risk Districts

Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) and the Geological Survey of India (GSI) signed an MoU to launch an experimental Landslide Early Warning System (LEWS) in Dima Hasao and Cachar districts. This initiative aims to predict and mitigate landslide risks using data and rainfall forecasts. The move follows severe landslide incidents in recent years, highlighting the need for advanced disaster preparedness in the region.
