Assam Launches Mukhyamantri Nijut Babu Asoni for Male Students

The Assam government has invited applications for the Mukhyamantri Nijut Babu Asoni, a new financial incentive scheme to support economically weaker male undergraduate and postgraduate students. Under the scheme, first-year UG students will receive ₹1,000 per month and PG students ₹2,000 per month for up to 10 months through DBT.
Applicable from the 2025–26 academic year, the scheme covers regular male students domiciled in Assam with family income below ₹4 lakh, enrolled in government or provincialised institutions. The initiative aims to reduce dropouts, address gender imbalance, and boost enrolment in line with NEP 2020. Students in private, self-financed, or distance courses are not eligible.
