Assam Legislative Assembly’s Autumn Session Begins Amid Tight Security

The Autumn Session of the Assam Legislative Assembly will start on Thursday and run until August 30, 2024. Security has been heightened, especially in the Dispur area, following the discovery of explosives near the Assembly. The session will begin with a Question Hour and the tabling of the Presentation of Supplementary Demands for Grants for 2024–25. Thirteen government bills are scheduled for tabling, including amendments to laws on caste reservations, tenancy, land regulation, and marriage registration.
