Assam Medical College to Launch Robotic Surgery Unit in November 2024
The Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) in Dibrugarh will introduce a state-of-the-art robotic surgery unit in November 2024, marking a first for government hospitals in Northeast India. This technology will enable complex surgeries to be performed locally, reducing the need for patients to seek treatment abroad. Dr. Sanjeeb Kakati, AMCH principal, announced the development during World Anaesthesia Day celebrations on October 16. The event was organized by the Indian Society of Anaesthesiologists (ISA) and AMCH’s Anaesthesia Department.
