Assam-Meghalaya to Erect Border Pillars by August 15 in Disputed Areas
Assam and Meghalaya will install border pillars in five of six agreed disputed areas by August 15, as announced by Chief Ministers Himanta Biswa Sarma and Conrad Sangma. The move follows their 2022 agreement to resolve boundary disputes in six out of 12 sites. One area is still under discussion, and talks on the sixth, Pilingkata, are ongoing. Both states also agreed to collaborate on the Kulsi multipurpose project near the border.
