Assam Mourns as Zubeen Garg Laid to Rest

Assam’s beloved singer Zubeen Garg was laid to rest today at Kamarkuchi, near Guwahati, with full state honors. Thousands of fans gathered to pay their respects, while his wife, standing as the foremost family member, grieved alongside his sister Palmee Borthakur and close associates.

The funeral procession included a 21-gun salute by Assam Police. Garg’s four pet dogs—Diya, Rambo, Maya, and Iko—were also present, bidding their final farewell.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma paid tribute on social media, saying, “The final goodbye to the legend, #BelovedZubeen. You will always be alive in our hearts and thoughts.”

Garg’s passing leaves a void in Assam’s cultural scene, but his music and legacy continue to inspire fans across the region.
