Assam Police Seize Drugs Worth Crores in Karbi Anglong, Cachar

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday said police intensified anti-narcotics operations in Karbi Anglong, seizing 19 kg of opium worth about ₹1.2 crore and 40 cartons of suspected Burmese cigarettes.
Reiterating a zero-tolerance stance, Sarma said Assam Police will crack down on drug syndicates and smugglers without respite. In related operations, Cachar police seized 90,000 Yaba tablets worth ₹27 crore in Rongpur and arrested two persons. Further investigations are underway.
