Assam Records Fastest Economic Growth, CM Highlights Reforms and Mega Projects

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said Assam has become India’s fastest-growing state economy, registering 45% growth between 2020 and 2025, far above the national average. Citing RBI data, he said the state economy has expanded from about ₹4 lakh crore to ₹7.41 lakh crore, with per capita income rising 54% in five years.

He highlighted major gains in crime control, improved conviction rates, and large-scale anti-drug operations. On infrastructure, Sarma outlined new bridges over the Brahmaputra, the Kaziranga elevated wildlife corridor approved by Narendra Modi, airport and ring road projects, and expanded rail and tunnel plans.

In health and power, he cited new medical colleges, cancer hospitals, a proton therapy facility, hydro and solar projects. Assam has also attracted big investments, provided over 1.46 lakh government jobs, expanded welfare schemes, granted land rights under Mission Basundhara, and announced the Babu Asoni stipend scheme for students. Sarma said Assam is firmly on the path to inclusive growth and development.
