Assam Rifles Seize Rs 82 Lakh Worth Contraband Cigarettes in Cachar

Assam Rifles, in a joint operation with Cachar Police, seized contraband Esse Light cigarettes worth about Rs 82 lakh in Assam’s Cachar district on February 22, 2026. The consignment was intercepted in the Bhaskhandi area based on specific intelligence inputs.

The seized items were handed over to Cachar Police for investigation. Assam Rifles said the operation is part of sustained efforts to curb smuggling in the region and reaffirmed its commitment to coordinated action along the Indo-Myanmar corridor.
